BikePGH water bottle PittsburghThe finalists have been chosen!  Before listing them, I’d like to thank everyone who sent in pictures–this was a great group of images and it was really difficult to narrow them down.  Narrow them we did, however, and BikePGH and onlyinpgh chose the following 5 finalists to be put up for a vote (presented in no particular order):

Sci Tech: http://onlyinpgh.com/?p=2989
Jail trail:   http://onlyinpgh.com/?p=2904
Three Sisters:  http://onlyinpgh.com/?p=2929
Feb commute: http://onlyinpgh.com/?p=2934
I <3 my bike:  http://onlyinpgh.com/?p=3113

Congratulations, finalists! Now, it’s up to our readers to pick the winner!

To vote, simply choose your favorite image in the sidebar poll to the right.  Hint: there’s no rule against lobbying for votes :)

The poll will be open until 11:59:59 pm on Sunday, August 22nd, and the submission with the most votes at that time will be declared the winner.

And what will the winner receive?  A BikePGH prize package that includes a 1-year BikePGH membership (or renewal), a Pittsburgh Bike Map, a BikePGH water bottle AND a T-shirt (you can check out the goods here)!

Thanks again to all the submitters!

Bikin’ in the Burgh Submission: Joyful Crossing

Joyful Fort Pitt Bridge crossing bike Pittsburgh

Submitted by Nick:

This photo was taken on the Fort Pitt Bridge during one of the many rides my wife and I take on our visits from Greensburg into da ’Burgh.  It is our prefered mode of transport for seeing sites, eating out and shopping.  I love this understated shot for a number of reasons.  First, because it captures an unmistakenly Pittsburgh setting.  It is a slightly askew and new view the likes of which are unavailable by car.  We love that views like this are the norm when we are on our bikes.  Secondly, this picture shows the usual joy on my wife’s face typical of our bike outings around Pittsburgh.  Ultimately, however, the most significant feature of this photo is that it is of my beautiful, athletic wife!

Bikin’ in the Burgh Rule Clarification

water bottle Bike Pittsburgh onlyinpghThere’s one more week to get you Bikin’ in the Burgh Contest submissions in!  I’ve received a few questions regarding the rules, so below are updated contest guidelines:

Contest Photos

Photos must be somehow related to biking and somehow related to Pittsburgh.  There can be any number of ways to satisfy these requirements, including:

  • having biked to a location that is a recognizable view of Pittsburgh
  • having your bike in a picture of a city trail
  • taking a picture of someone else biking on a city street
  • taking a picture of a bike part at some Pittsburgh landmark
  • etc…

Be creative!  Send your submissions to submit@onlyinpgh.com and as long as there is a connection to biking and a connection to Pittsburgh, it’ll be put up!

Timeline

Entries will be accepted until 11:59pm on August 15. At that time Bike PGH and onlyinpgh will choose the top 5 entries and put them up for a vote.  Voting will take place on onlyinpgh.com and will be open until 11:59pm on August 22nd.  The picture with the most votes gets the prize!
