Dispatch from OTV: Fleeting Pages reclaims their Borders

05.09.11

From our friends over at On The Vine Creative, a review of an awesome month-long event going on right now, Fleeting Pages:

After seeing weeks of Facebook chatter + blog posts about Fleeting Pages, I jumped at the opportunity to see what all the buzz was about on Sunday afternoon… in short, I wasn’t disappointed.

In essence, Fleeting Pages is the mashup of written self-expression + community.

From their website: Fleeting Pages is “taking back a space, left empty by a failed big box bookstore, for one month, starting May 7th, and filling it with independent & self-published work of all kinds, book arts, workshops, and events.”

‘For the people, by the people’ keeps coming to mind.

I will let you explore their site, which has their documented journey — from the seed of an idea through it’s current manifestation — as well as an upcoming events calendar, what’s in stock + how you can even shop online.

Be Involved
“What Fleeting Pages will become is dependent upon who shows up with support.”

First + foremost, if you are in the Pgh area, stop by the old Borders near Whole Foods in the East End + check it out for yourself and/or attend an upcoming event.

Specifically, “Fleeting Pages is in need of, and open to, work of all kinds to fill the shelves, ideas and people to create and run workshops, ideas for how to re-imagine the space, 30-days of events, people willing to come out and help at the space, partnerships, collaborations… a community.”

Volunteers + organizers, publishers + writers, designers + artists, check Fleeting Page’s site to learn more about being involved. Stop by + chat with Jodi about your idea to get the ball rolling.

This is your open-ended opportunity to have an impact, make a difference, support your community + uphold written self-expression. So… what are you waiting for? Go, go, go!
